Airport transfers · Geneva GVA

Geneva Airport group & coach transfers.

Geneva is the closest major airport to the Portes du Soleil, Mont-Blanc and the Aravis, and the busiest winter gateway to the French Alps. MoveAlps moves several thousand group guests through Geneva every winter, with our own coaches and our own drivers, for tour operators, school groups, seminars and events.

Our own fleet at the core. Owned, maintained and driven by our own team. When peak days call for extra capacity, partner coaches are carefully selected and run to our standards, under our dispatch.

About the airport · Geneva

Geneva Airport: the main gateway to the northern French Alps.

Geneva Airport sits right on the French border, 4 km from the city centre. It is the closest major airport to the Portes du Soleil, Mont-Blanc and the Aravis, around 1h15 by coach, and the busiest winter gateway to the French Alps.

In winter, ski flights arrive from across the UK and Ireland, Scandinavia and the Benelux, with easyJet, British Airways, Swiss, Jet2.com, TUI and SAS among the main airlines. Weekend peaks are intense, and we plan our coach movements around them.

The route · Geneva

From Geneva to the resorts: the roads we drive.

Portes du Soleil, Mont-Blanc and Aravis, around 1h15. Geneva is closest for these resorts. Most of the journey is motorway, then a short mountain climb to the resort.

Tarentaise, around 3h00. Val Thorens, Méribel, Tignes and La Plagne are reached via Annecy, along the shore of Lake Annecy to Albertville, then up the Tarentaise valley to Moûtiers and the resort roads.

Maurienne and Oisans, around 2h45 to 3h15. South via Chambéry for Valloire and Val Cenis, or via Grenoble for Alpe d’Huez and Les 2 Alpes.

Saturday changeover traffic in the Tarentaise is the main variable in winter. We plan departure times around it, and every coach carries snow chains.

Transfer day at Geneva

Transfer day at Geneva: pick-up on the Swiss side.

Our coaches collect groups on the Swiss side of Geneva Airport, at the coach pick-up point by the terminal (map). Coaches are only allowed into the pick-up area once the group is ready to board, so timing is everything.

From landing, your group leader stays in contact with our team. Once everyone has their bags and skis, we call the coach in to the pick-up point. We monitor every flight in real time, so a delay changes the timing, never the transfer. A meet and greet in the arrivals hall can be arranged on request.

Group FAQ

Questions organisers ask about Geneva.

Where does the coach pick up at Geneva Airport?

On the Swiss side, at the coach pick-up point next to the terminal. Your group leader receives the exact location and instructions before travel. Coaches can only enter the pick-up area once the group is ready, so the coach is called in when everyone has their luggage.

Why does our group leader need to stay in contact on arrival?

Geneva only lets coaches into the pick-up area when the group is ready to board. Your group leader tells us when the group has cleared baggage reclaim, and we bring the coach straight in. It keeps waiting time short for your guests and avoids the coach being moved on.

How long is the transfer from Geneva to Val Thorens and the Tarentaise?

Around 3 hours by coach, via Annecy and Lake Annecy to Albertville, then up the Tarentaise valley. Saturday changeover traffic can add time, so we plan departures around the peak. For the Portes du Soleil, Mont-Blanc and Aravis, allow around 1h15.

What happens if a flight is delayed?

We track every flight in real time and move the transfer to your group’s actual arrival time. A delay changes the timing, not the service: the transfer you booked still runs.

Can you handle weekly changeovers for tour operators?

Yes. We move several thousand guests through Geneva every winter, mostly on Saturday changeovers. One team plans and dispatches every transfer, with our own coaches and drivers and ski boxes on most coaches.
